BG&E designed a new alternative materials handling wharf with ship-loader and approach trestles for the Port of Townsville. The design included a trafficable deck structure and new mooring dolphins. Construction was to be facilitated by the use of a precast concrete structure with prestressed deck plans and circular reinforced concrete piles in sacrificial steel pile casings.
