BG&E were responsible for the technical review of alternative wharf structures, comprising a backfilled steel cellular cofferdam system with retaining heights of up to 17m. The Norwegian company Selmer/Skanska undertook the original alternative tender design.

The wharf structure was provided with a reinforced/prestressed concrete capping beam and slab, which was capable of supporting the specified extreme high skid loadings.
